Markus Eichenberger

Markus is an award-winning Swiss photographer and filmmaker who has a passion for travel. He is always looking for new cultures and challenges. He is particularly interested in capturing the beauty of our planet in pictures. In the last 20 years, Markus has traveled to more than 80 countries and lived abroad for over 10 years. Among other things, he spent 3 years in Beijing, where Markus created a photo documentation of all 31 stadiums of the 2008 Olympic Games on behalf of the photo agency GettyImages. The images were published in the well-known magazine Sports Illustrated and distributed via GettyImages.

 

For the last 5 years he has dedicated himself to the Swiss Alps, where he photographed and filmed the stars over several months. His goal is to create a special atmosphere. Either with photos or time-lapse films with long exposure. The time-lapse short films “Mystic Jungfraujoch” and “Chasing Stars” have been shown at over 50 international film festivals from Auckland to Los Angeles and have won several awards for “Best Cinematography Short Film”. His work on night photography has been published several times in the magazine Schweizer Illustrierte . In 2016, Markus was invited to present his work at the DigitalEvent as one of four keynote speakers in front of 500 guests. 

 

Markus works with Switzerland Tourism and other local tourism offices to present the beauty of Switzerland in the best light. In 2017 he accompanied the celebrity chef Anton Mosimann on his Grand Tour Rally through Switzerland and documented the journey with 16 vintage vehicles. Markus has been a partner photographer at the KEYSTONE photo agency since 2017. 

 

For several years he has been working with travel companies to specifically stage trips to Antarctica and the Arctic. He also founded the Chasing Stars Workshops (Aletsch Arena and Schilthorn) in 2016 and has so far introduced star photography to over 1,200 participants. In addition, Markus is a tour guide for photo trips to Barcelona, where he lived for 3 years and knows the local culture very well. 

 

Markus’ expertise lies in documentary, landscape and wildlife photography and film production. Markus speaks fluent English, Spanish and German.
