BARCELONA

PHOTOGRAPHY & CULTURE TRAVEL

OFFER

Discover the city of Barcelona and the picturesque fishing village of Sitges from a whole new perspective. We will visit places that are authentic and where the locals hang out. The two street photography tours are carried out by photographers who have lived in Barcelona and Sitges for several years and are very knowledgeable. There are also culinary delicacies such as tapas and Catalan specialties in selected restaurants. Of course, a very good glass of red wine from the region (Penedès, Priorat, etc.) is also included. This is not a “normal” city tour to see Barcelona’s tourist attractions. It's about an “off the beaten track” weekend trip.

FLIGHTS

Swiss and Vueling fly to Barcelona. There are several flights per day. You should arrive in Barcelona no later than 7:30 p.m. so that you still have enough time to enjoy the evening in Sitges. The return flight is on Monday (Sunday is not recommended as there are too many people traveling). If desired, flights and hotels can be booked in collaboration with Globetrotter Travel Services.

ACTIVITY DETAILS

TAPAS TOUR through the old town of Sitges. Sitges is known for its tapas bars. It has dozens, which you can easily visit in one tour. There are also excellent wines in the region (Penedes, Priorat, Freixenet sparkling wine) and we will visit a local vinoteca if desired.

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WITH ANDRZEJ WITEK: We will take a 5-hour street photography tour of Barcelona with Andrzej, a well-known local photographer (English speaking, I will translate if necessary). He has lived in the center of Barcelona for several years and gives photography workshops about Barcelona. He knows every corner of the city.

SUNRISE AND SUNSET PHOTOGRAPHY: In Sitges, early risers will get their money's worth at sunrise. Sitges is known worldwide for its great lighting conditions and many well-known advertising agencies such as Coca Cola and Mercedes Benz produce their campaigns here. Of course, the same applies to the sunsets, if someone wants to sleep in, they also have the opportunity to enjoy the great light again in the evening. After the sunrise we will have a leisurely breakfast at the hotel.

WINE TOUR: we are taking a tour through the hinterland, where there are many wineries that produce excellent wine. Encarna, a wine connoisseur and tour guide, will show us 2 exclusive wineries and explain the winemaking process. We will watch the whole process in the first winery and taste wines. In the second winery we will have lunch in the garden (weather permitting) and try out a few wines again. The whole tour is tailored to us photographers and we will have enough time to capture everything photographically. Very interesting even for non-wine drinkers or wine connoisseurs!

SAGRADA FAMILIA:Simply THE landmark of Barcelona. We will book tickets in advance and then go see this building. Since it's not finished yet, you can go there a dozen times and it will always look different.

SITGES TOUR: The town has a very relaxed atmosphere with its many beaches and narrow streets and shops. It invites you to stroll and is perfect as a base for all of our excursions. I lived here for 3 years and know a lot of locals who always give me tips on where new bars and restaurants have opened. The palace "Palau Maricel" in Sitges is a gem of a building that has a lot of charm and an interesting history behind it.

ORGANIZATION

The event is intended for ambitious photographers from beginners to advanced. This is not a classic tourist trip. This is really about seeing places that you don't otherwise know and where the locals hang out.

The trip is also ideal to combine with a longer stay in Barcelona, where you can add a few days either before or after. Please let us know early so that we have enough time to coordinate everything.

PARTICIPANTS / COURSE INSTRUCTORS

The number of participants is limited to 6 people to ensure the overview and quality of the trip. The course leader is Markus Eichenberger, a Swiss photographer who lived in Sitges and Barcelona for 3 years. He speaks fluent German, Spanish and English.

EQUIPMENT

A SLR camera or mirrorless with a “walk around” lens such as 24-70mm are ideal for exploring the city. It is important to avoid taking large telephoto lenses, but perhaps a wide-angle lens for architectural photography and beach photography. A suitable bag where everything can be stored is also important. As in all major cities in Europe, pickpocketing has increased in Barcelona and it is advisable to keep an eye on your valuables.

COST
